So, I always thought that lamb was something just for formal occasions – braised lamb, lamb shank, etc. Needless to say I was surprised when I walked into New Seasons for the first time (LOVE IT!) yesterday and saw seasoned lamb burgers in the meat section. ”Lamb burgers?” I thought….interesting. Well, I just made them for dinner and WOW!!! They were unbelievable! They were so flavorful and super easy to make – 5 minutes per side in a skillet on medium high heat, and they tasted FABULOUS on the fresh ciabatta bread (also from New Seasons – did you know they make all their own bread?). They recommended their house cucumber sauce as a topping but we didn’t get it. We will next time though! I checked the nutrition label for the lamb and can you believe it is only 70 calories and 5 grams of fat per patty? That is a quarter the fat and calories of an Angus burger - that’s a huge step in the healthy direction! It is all hormone and anti-biotic free as well. This was a delicious, easy, low-cost, out of the dinner rut idea that was easy on our waist-lines. Fabulous!!! I’d definitely reccomend lamb burgers for a fast dinner in your near future!
I’ve always wanted to try lamb…I’ll have to look for it at the grocery store this week. I can’t believe it’s only 70 calories per patty!
