Snack Attack!!!

If you are anything like me, I get MAJOR snack cravings around 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  This means big trouble for me if I haven’t planned ahead because I’ll hit the coffee shop or the vending machine, meaning more calories and more money than I can afford.  To help prepare myself for the week, I try to spend a few minutes on the weekend making individual snack bags for myself that I can grab in the mornings on my way to work or while I am doing housework on the weekends (they are also great to have handy for my son’s lunchbox).  Here is one of my favorite snack recipes that keeps me feeling full and on track.

Fruit & Nut Mix

In a large bowl or container, mix:

  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup cashews
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup raw peanuts
  • 1/2 cup dried banana slices (make sure to get the unsweetened kind)
  • 1/4 cup dried chopped mango pieces
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins

Divide mix into storage containers (washed & dried sour cream or cream cheese containers, plastic container, or sandwich bags) in 1 cup servings.

This mix is delicious, filling, and healthy!  The nuts contain heart healthy omegas and natural fiber, and the dried fruit provides anti-oxidants (they also help curb your craving for sweets).  Enjoy!

  1. This sounds like a tasty trail mix! My favorite snacks are turkey roll ups or english muffin veggie pizzas. Both are really filling and very yummy!
