About the Author
I was born in 1979 in Portland, Oregon and have lived in the Portland Metro Area my whole life. Beginning at about age eight, I started working in the family bath and body care company. As I grew up, I started helping out in the shipping department of the family business, then moved up to the office, and finally I started traveling and working trade shows, training sales representatives, and meeting with clients. After I graduated high school in 1997 I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the legal field, so I went to Portland Community College and Western Business College and got my Legal Assistant certificate. I was a legal assistant and paralegal for 5 years before going to work at the Federal Court in 2004.
My love of writing started when I began working in the office of my parents’ company. I always wanted to help write the policy and procedure documents, help with press releases, and try to help name products and write catalog product blurbs. I was always an avid reader and couldn’t wait to write papers in high school and college (I may have been the only one in my class excited to get a 1,500 word essay project!!!).
Quick Fix Healthy Mix is my first published work (so exciting!) and I could not have done it without my co-author and mother, Casey Kellar. My next book, a project with Dr. Raymond Schep, is in the works and should be out late next year (see the “Work in Progress” page for more info). I’m also working on a project called The Quick & Easy Author, an easy 8 week program with guided worksheets that walks you through how to write your own book and get published too!
In addition to writing and reading I love walking (I did the Portland to Coast Marathon in August of 2009 and completed my first half marathon July 4, 2010 and they were both AWESOME!), animals, trying new restaurants, cooking, organizing (it’s a sickness really!!!), wrapping gifts, and spending time with family and friends.
There are times in your life when you read a person’s Bio and/or posted statement and you wonder is this for real. Well . . . I want to let you know that I have known Nicole and her mother Casey since 2004. Both of these Ladies are the real deal. It has been an honor to get to know both of them. Their hearts are sincere. Their love of people is amazing. I pray that the Lord will continue to Bless and keep them and their beautiful families.
